Out now! Β«ARTHOSΒ» n.29 / 2020

Finally, with a little delay due to the health situation, the 2020 register of ARTHOS (n.29 of the new series, Arya Edizioni - OICL), magazine of Traditional Studies founded in 1972 and directed by prof. Renato Del Ponte, on which I begin with a contribution extremely dear to me. Obviously, for me it is an absolute honor to have been invited to collaborate in the annual edition of this magazine which is not very historical to define as historical, and it is doubly so by virtue of the theme of the essay that bears my signature, given that it is a subject to which I personally care a lot: THE WORSHIP OF FAIRY IN CELTIC COUNTRIES: AN ESCATOLOGY OF DEATH AND REBIRTH.

The working hypothesis from which I started - in line with the various articles already published over the years on AXIS mundi in the section "Cosmic-agrarian cults of ancient Eurasia" - is based on the idea that in the Gaelic tradition of the so-called Fairy-Faith in my opinion we must find some typical conceptions of a para-shamanic substrate usually reserved for Asian or Amerindian populations, of the type analyzed by Mircea Eliade in his essential work Shamanism and the techniques of ecstasy. Eliade found shamanic elements in the European tradition with regard to ancient Greece, the Germanic-Scandinavian ecumene and Eastern Europe, but - inexplicably, in my eyes - he almost completely bypassed the Celtic tradition, which in my opinion is very rich. of suggestions of this kind. In this sense, more than 70 years after the publication of the Shamanism eliadian, this essay of mine would like to fill this gap.

Attached you can read the short presentation written by prof. Del Ponte (who rightly, as we have been able to clarify by telephone, rejects the nineteenth-century academic denomination of "Animism", a term that I use here in a much broader and more traditional meaning, with regard to the so-called "Anima Mundi") , as well as the initial pages of my work, which occupies a total of 30 pages of the register in question (pp. 8–37), and the full index of the register.
