In 1943 the world of pulpmagazines is shaken by the publication in the magazine Amazing Stories of the story "I Remember Lemuria!" signed by the unknown Richard Shaver. The story is not, according to the author, only mere fiction but it is the key to unveiling the antediluvian past of our planet, a reminder of a golden age in which the Earth was dominated by a very advanced civilization that came from the stars. Today of that civilization there are only lost underground cities filled with alien technology and populated by a race of deformed mutants called Dero, the degenerate progeny of the genetic experiments carried out by the ancient civilization. Thus begins the saga of the "Mystery Shaver", a forgotten chapter in the history of science fiction that has only recently been rediscovered which, despite the damnatio memoriae to which he was condemned by fans, has had a decisive influence on modern mythologies such as that of UFOs, ancient astronauts and modern conspiracy theories.
