Through the many souls of the book, a bit of a diary of a profound initiation into the shamanism of the Amazon, a bit of a naturalistic reportage, a bit of a botany manual and a bit of an essay, the author takes the reader by the hand on a journey to discover the ancestral culture of the forest, of traditional medicine, of mythology, of magic and of unspoiled nature, not without a rich set of amusing anecdotes, curiosities and notes on customs. An itinerary of the soul towards a wider dimension of being, where the boundaries between health and disease, good and evil, reality and illusion are redrawn thanks also to a skilful counterpoint of spiritual and philosophical themes, quotations and insights through a punctual and extensive set of notes.
MICHELE MAINO:
Born in Milan, graduated in Oriental languages, he is a professional journalist, translator, tireless traveler and passionate about languages, cultures and religions. He lived for a long time in Arab countries, held many professions - from teacher to radio speaker, from editor to cultural mediator, from calligrapher to chef, to photographer - and, in 2012, he opened one of the first and most interesting plant restaurants in Milan -based in Italy. He teaches techniques of meditation and mindful eating, practices and disseminates the vegetal shamanism of the Amazon, investigating, in particular, the relationship between spirituality and botany.
