PDF / SLIDES: Parallelisms between Dante's infrworlds and the Indo-Buddhist and shamanic tradition of Asia

We make available for download the slides we used in the two conferences on Dante and the inframondi in the oriental tradition - that of yesterday for UniTreEdu and that of today at the General States of Psychedelia in Italy 2021. The notes are based on our essay with the same title forthcoming in the annual register of the magazine Β«ARTHOSΒ», n. 30 / year 2021.

β€œThe physics of angels”: dialogue between a visionary biologist and a rebellious theologian

Can modern physics dialogue with the theological and mystical tradition to shed light on the ancient question of angels? This is the question on which "The physics of angels" is based, a text-dialogue between the rebel theologian Matthew Fox, and the biologist Rupert Sheldrake, known for the theory of morphic resonance, focused on the analysis of some of the most illuminating texts of three Christian mystics: Dionigi Aeropagita, Saint Thomas Aquinas and Hildegard of Bingen.

Hieronymus Bosch and the drΓ΄leries

A stranger to the idealizing representation of nature, Bosch established himself in the collective imagination as a painter of dream visions, and so he has in fact been defined over the centuries up to the present day: as a painter of the fantastic and of the dream, or even of the nightmare, painter of the demonic and hell par excellence. Yet his works always refer to another reality, in which the traditional categories of Beauty, Eternity and Sense are (still) present, albeit in a renewed form.


Kawah Ijen: Hell & Heaven

We made an excursion, among the indigenous sulfur collectors, on the slopes of the only volcano in the world that erupts blue lava: the Kawah Ijen on the Indonesian island of Java. The nocturnal catabasis and the morning ascent, similar to those of Dante in DorΓ©'s illustrations, gave rise to meditations in us on the power of the cataclysmic events that have always affected the Pacific "belt of fire", and on the necessity on the part of the man to accept them and to come to terms with them.
