Live video: โ€œThe religion of the samuraiโ€, with Riccardo Rosati

Tomorrow evening from 21:00 we will host on our YouTube channel Riccardo Rosati, author of the presentation of the book by Kaiten Nukariya "The religion of the samurai", published in Italy in 2016 from the Mediterranean Editions.

LIVE STREAMING:

In 1913, a dozen years before DT Suzuki's famous attempt to propose Buddhism to the West with his fundamental Essays on Zen Buddhism (1927-1934), another important Japanese scholar tried to provide a "national" reading of this religion , and of Zen in particular, which was nevertheless understandable and, at the same time, suggestive also for the foreign reader. The religion of the samurai by Kaiten Nukariya, which is presented here in the first Italian translation and which was greatly appreciated by Julius Evola, stands out as a precious document with a triple value: political, religious and historical. Starting from a detailed account on the birth and spread of this religion, the Author shows how Zen can be a vital form to grapple with existence, both from a strictly spiritual and practical point of view. Included in the appendix is โ€‹โ€‹Nukariya's own translation of Gen nin ron (Essay on the Origin of Man) by the Chinese Tsung Mih (774-841), which he uses as support for his theses on Mahayana Buddhism and the Zen current of he. We will have the opportunity to talk about it with Riccardo Rosati, author of the presentation at the Italian edition published by Edizioni Mediterranee (Rome, 2016).
